FAQs

CBD is one of many compounds, known as cannabinoids, in the cannabis plant. Hemp is a plant within the Cannabis family, Cannabis sativa. Hemp contains most of the CBD that people use medicinally, and trace amounts of THC. THC creates a mind-altering “high” when a person consumes or incinerates it. CBD is different. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. This means that CBD does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it. However, CBD does appear to produce significant changes in the body, and some research suggests it has medical benefits.

Haygood Farms grows industrial hemp plants, federally legalized in 2018, that must contain less than 0.3% THC.

All cannabinoids, including CBD, produce effects in the body by attaching to certain receptors. The human body produces certain cannabinoids on its own. It also has two receptors for cannabinoids, called the CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are present throughout the body, but many are in the brain. The CB1 receptors in the brain deal with coordination and movement, pain, emotions, and mood, thinking, appetite, and memories, and other functions. THC attaches to these receptors. CB2 receptors are more common in the immune system. They affect inflammation and pain.

It’s a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant and brings vast potential benefits to its users. Delta 8 is similar to the popular Delta 9 THC in that both can provide feelings of euphoria. Although Delta 8 is considered by most users to be much more mild in its effect than Delta 9, it has the same powerful benefits offered by CBD.

It’s a more mild high than Delta 9. The mild euphoric feeling of Delta 8 is less intense without the paranoia and confusion often found with Delta 9. That being said, every body is extremely different and processes things differently. When experimenting with Delta 8, especially the edibles, make sure you go slow. The golden rule is you can always take more. Make sure to pay attention to the serving size, and even consider taking less for your first dose. If you are concerned about any interactions with current medications please make sure you consult a healthcare professional.

Here’s what we know- Delta 8 is a byproduct of the hemp plants, and as such, was made legal under the sweeping 2018 farm bill that legalized hemp plants that contain less than 0.3% of Delta 9 THC. Delta 8 THC products are completely legal in California, Nevada, Wyoming, New Mexico, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Minnesota , Missouri , Louisiana , Wisconsin, Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Hawaii. The legalities of Delta 8 are one of the reasons that it’s so popular in the CBD and cannabis marketplace. The issue with it being synthetic in the eyes of the law can, as some legal experts posit, cause a shift from the Farm Bill to  the CSA (Controlled Substance Act) as a case against Delta 8 remaining legal. (This is all uncharted territory, but the consensus is that this won’t happen.)

No, Delta 8 is a natural cannabis compound that occurs in both marijuana and hemp. However, its presence can be so little that one needs a massive amount of plant material to procure any significant quantity of this compound. For this reason, some manufacturers choose to create it with synthetic products instead of extracting it directly from hemp.

Hemp and CBD are both found in the cannabis plant and both have 0.3% or less trace amounts of THC. Hemp seed oil, which is created by crushing hemp seeds, can often be confused with CBD. Here at Haygood Farms we create oil from our hemp-derived CBD which is not the same as hemp seed oil as it doesn’t contain CBD, THC or any other cannabinoids or terpenes. We understand this can be slightly confusing as we have mention of both CBD and hemp throughout our products, so if you have any specific questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a team member. We believe in order to receive the full benefits that the plant has to offer, CBD Oil is the way to go!

Although testing is continuing, CBD offers a possible natural alternative to pain relief and provides anti-inflammatory properties, as well as potential help with quitting smoking, drug withdrawals, epilepsy, other neurological symptoms and disorders, fighting cancer, anxiety disorders, type 1 diabetes, acne, and slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Our clients share their stories of the relief they’ve found from CBD.

Many small-scale studies have looked into the safety of CBD in adults. They concluded that adults tend to tolerate a wide range of doses well. Researchers have found no significant side effects on the central nervous system, the vital signs, or mood, even among people who used high dosages. The most common side effect was tiredness. Also, some people reported diarrhea and changes in appetite or weight. There is still a lack of available long-term safety data. Also, to date, researchers have not performed studies involving children.

CBD-based products come in many forms. Oral delivery methods, such as tinctures, capsules, and oils, can be mixed into different foods or drinks, taken under the tongue, or swallowed as a capsule. Others are thick pastes or salves to be massaged into the skin, where the CBD is absorbed through the skin. Some products are available as sprays or roll-ons to be applied as a muscle pain reliever. Recommended dosages vary between individuals, and depend on factors such as body weight, the concentration of the product, and the health issue.
